Mao Zedong’s office

Mao Zedong’s office is located in the first room on the right side of the main hall of the Ancestral Hall. There is a table, a chair and a kerosene lamp. During the Gutian meeting, Mao Zedong reviewed the documents here, asked representatives to talk, and guided the meeting smoothly. On the table of Comrade Mao Zedong’s office, three cigarettes were tidy and discharged. It is because Chairman Mao loved to smoke during his lifetime, and tourists put cigarettes here, which is a way of expressing memory of Chairman Mao. ”

Lotus pond

The well is located in the left front of the Zongtang. There is a small pond next to the well. The pond has a “noon lotus” that blooms at noon, hence the name “Lotus Pond”. During the Gutian meeting, Mao Zedong often walked and rested in the lotus pond.

The lotus pond became a memory of Mao Zedong. One day in 1960, Mao Zedong saw the model of the Gutian Conference site in the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. At a glance, the model was incomplete and the “Lotus Pool” in front of the meeting site was omitted. Shortly after the Gutian meeting, local villagers filled the pond with rice. After learning that Chairman Mao was “looking for” the pond, the local villagers cleaned up, restored the original state of the pond, and planted the morning lotus, until now.
